One of the biggest issues pushed by liberal Democrats is campaign finance "reform". Bernie Sanders wants to take big money out of politics, but he doesn't approve of Donald Trump financing his own campaign. Hillary Clinton speaks out against big corporate contributions, but she meanwhile takes millions and millions from Wall Street and raises hundreds of millions for her "foundation" that pays a big chunk of her expenses like travel costs. Now we're seeing that the hypocrisy is present in the leftwing media as well. The New York Post today exposed the news that Chris Matthews appears to have been using his TV show on MSNBC to raise cash for his wife's campaign for Congress. Matthews is not making appeals for viewers to send cash. Instead, it looks like he is selling appearance to politicians on his show in exchange for contributions to the wife's campaign. The Post details a number of instances in which guests come on Matthews show, and within a day or two before or after the appearance they make sizeable contributions to the campaign coffers of Mrs. Matthews.
The reality is that Matthews and MSNBC have to come clean on what is going on there. Shaking down guests for campaign cash is unethical at a minimum and it may be criminal under the laws that were put in place decades ago after the payola scandals in which radio dj's were being paid off to play certain songs on the air.
