About a month ago, Joe Biden criticized President Trump for getting tough with China over its trade practices. Biden said China was no threat to the USA. Specifically, Old Joe said about China, "They're not bad folks. They're not competition for us." Yesterday, Biden did a 180. He said in a speech, "China poses a serious challenge to us, and in some areas are a real threat." He also said that it is "time to get tough with China".
These are two opposite statements. There's no way that both can be correct. Biden either wants to confront China on trade or he doesn't. He thinks it's bad to get tough with China or he doesn't.
Biden, however, just flipped yesterday and acted as if he never said anything to the contrary. He offered no explanation for the turnaround in his views. He just pretended he never said anything opposite.
It makes one wonder if Old Joe even remembers that he said China was not competition for the USA a month back. Has his mind gone that bad?
A president can forget a few details; it would be better if the president remembered everything, but we're all human and can forget. It would be a disaster, however, to have a president who can remember which countries are the "competition" and which are allies.
Biden's flip-flop on China is bad enough. What it indicates about his mental state, however, is extremely troubling.
