There's a poll today from Rasmussen that pits President Trump against New York City mayor Bill DeBlasio. Trump wins 46 to 38. The point of the poll is not so much that Trump wins and DeBlasio loses. Rather, the key here is that DeBlasio gets 38 percent of the vote. That has to be a basic estimate of the core vote for any Democrat who runs against Trump. After all, no one in his or her right mind would vote for DeBlasio for president; these are votes by Democrats who will take anyone, even a jerk like DeBlasio, instead of Trump. After all, DeBlasio has managed to mess up the NYC economy, cause a crime increase, slow down the transit system, raise taxes, waste enormous amounts of cash (his wife "lost" almost a billion dollars) and throw the education system into chaos in only four years as mayor. No one could possibly want that.
This 38 percent vote for DeBlasio should be a wake up call to the Democrats. They seem to think that they will win no matter who they run against Trump. They ought to remember what happened to Hillary Clinton. They probably won't, but they should.
