The mainstream media is truly desperate to try to convince America that President Trump didn't do much with this latest agreement with Mexico regarding the border. Let's start with the truth: President Trump has been pushing the Mexicans for many months to crack down on the flow of illegal aliens/caravans crossing their country to get to the USA. Trump has also been pushing for more Mexican assistance in stopping both illegal drugs and human traffickers who pour across our southern border. A few months back, Trump threatened to close the border unless Mexico cooperated in these efforts. Last week, Trump said he would impose a 5% tariff on all Mexican goods entering the USA unless the Mexicans cooperated in these efforts. It worked. Mexico shut its border with Guatemala to those who sought to enter Mexico illegally (without visas) so as to get the US border. Mexico froze the accounts of a number of human traffickers who have been smuggling women into the USA to be used as sex slaves. Mexico also began intense negotiations with the US government in Washington to try to head off the tariffs. Then, this weekend, Mexico and the USA reached an agreement on these matters.
The media first tried to spin this as Trump backing away because the tariffs were "unpopular". That was yesterday's attempted spin. Since no one believed that, the media changed course. Today, we're being told that the tariff threat had nothing to do with the agreement; Mexico had already agreed to do more. In the media's eyes, this bit of spin (while not true) would deprive the President of his "victory". It's an amazing bit of self-deceit by the media and the Dems. Everyone knows why Mexico has agreed to change the policies that it followed all through the eight years of Obama; it was due to the unrelenting pressure that the Mexicans got from President Trump and his administration. The media/Dems seem to think that no one remembers the threat to close the border or all the other actions taken by Trump in the past. These fools think that only what they say matters so if they claim the Mexican agreement had nothing to do with Trump, Americans will believe them. Nope.
The media is also busy claiming that Mexico really hasn't agreed to anything of importance. Really? They want us to believe this? If the Mexican border with Guatemala is actually limited so that only those crossing legally can enter Mexico, the problems at the US southern border will end within a month or two. That's just a fact. Also, if the Mexicans crack down on those who organize human trafficking operations, that horrific practice will also decline dramatically.
Then there's also Mexico's agreement to have those seeking asylum in the USA wait for determination of their cases in that country rather than in the USA. That's another big change from the failed Obama policies.
President Trump campaigned on doing all he could to solve the problem at the southern border. Since he took office, the Democrats have made every effort to prevent America from getting that solution. Just think of all those months in the last year when the Democrats told us that there was no crisis at the southern border. It was all just a lie or so they told us. Trump was just pandering to his base of racists by talking about a phony crisis or so they told us. Well now everyone agrees that there is, indeed, a crisis. Trump was correct, and the Democrats and media were not only wrong, but they knew they were wrong and lied. Even so, the Democrats wouldn't cooperate in any way to try to solve that crisis. For the Democrats it was more important to see Trump lose than to see America win. But Trump has outmaneuvered the Dems. The Dems can't prevent Mexico from enforcing its own laws so as to limit the flow of illegals to the USA. The Dems can't prevent Mexico from working to stop the flow of drugs and human trafficking. And it's killing them. If Trump gets major progress on this problem while the Dems clearly opposed what he is doing, there are millions of people who will see that for what it is. That would put a stake in the heart of the Dems chances in 2020. That's why the Dems and their media arm are so busy trying to lie their way out of this box. It won't work, though. They made their coffin, and they can lie in it now.
