Just after writing about Sandra Fluke and all that uproar, I switched to another site and came across the ABC News report on a confrontation between New Jersey governor Chris Christie and a law student from Rutgers in South Jersey who was upset about the merger between Rowan and Rutgers. The student asked a question and then Christie started to answer. In the middle of the Christie answer, the student interrupted and started reasking his question. After another round, Christie finally told him that if he acted like that in a courtroom after graduation, he would find himself in jail and the governor called him an idiot for his behavior. Christie then told the crowd, to applause, "I mean, damn man, I'm governor, could you shut up for a second?"
There is no big story here. It is just Chris Christie being Chris Christie. New Jersey's governor does not suffer fools gladly. What did interest me, however, was the video that Yahoo News put out with the story. I watched the video and found that it had been edited. The interruptions by the student were taken out of the video. Instead, all that we see is the moment when security finally removed him due to his refusal to relinquish the microphone to the next questioner. Christie's explanation and attempts to respond to the question have also been edited down. In other words, Yahoo changed the video to make Christie look unreasonable and over bearing. It also changed the video to make the student look reasonable.
(If you want to see the video to understand better what I am talking about, just click on the title to this post.)
I wonder why they call it Yahoo News rather than Yahoo Propaganda?
