After a big build up, the first of the videos "vetting" president Obama was aired on Hannity tonight. It was a real yawn. Breitbart found a video of Obama introducing Harvard professor Derrick Bell during a protest at Harvard Law School. Obama tells the audience to open its heart and mind to the words of Bell and then (horrors!) hugs Bell. Hannity also showed video of another Harvard professor with ties to Obama who says that the Bell video was hidden during the 2008 election.
Let me say this: I knew the late professor Bell when I was a student at Harvard Law School. It hardly made me a radical as any of you who read this blog well know. It is true that Bell had a hard left view of the world coupled with some harsh views about race. So? Anyone who spent time on the Harvard campus in the 1970's had to run into many in the faculty who held similar views. It is just the way it was. I do not see where this has any impact at all on who Obama is.
Now do not get me wrong. Obama is a terrible president. He makes Jimmy Carter look good, and that is not easy. But we should judge Obama by his record in office, the never-ending high unemployment, the rising fuel prices, the enormous increase in government spending even in the face of unimaginable debt, the failure to handle the war in Afghanistan successfully, the failure to prevent Iran's nuclear program from continuing, the impending destruction of American health care through Obamacare, the mismanagement of the economy through crony capitalism and the like. (I would have gone on, but I can only take so much misery in one sentence.) Hannity's foray into "vetting" Obama is a side show, and not one that many will want to see.
There are supposed to be more tapes coming next week. Who knows? Maybe there will be something of interest then.
