President Obama gave another of his speeches in the "Don't Blame Me for High Gas Prices" series today in the Maryland suburbs of DC. Obama used his usual ploy of lying about what others have said in order to compare himself favorably with the lie. Here is exactly what he told the crowd:
“Lately, we’ve heard a lot of professional politicians — a lot of the folks who, you know, are running for a certain office, who shall go unnamed — they’ve been talking down new sources of energy. They dismiss wind power. They dismiss solar power. They make jokes about biofuels. They were against raising fuel standards because apparently they like gas guzzling cars better. We’re trying to move towards the future, and they want to be stuck in the past.”
So according to Obama, the GOP contenders dismiss wind, solar and biofuels.
Here is what Gingrich says at Newt.org:
Newt has an American Energy Plan that would maximize energy production from all sources–oil, natural gas, wind, biofuels, nuclear, clean coal, and more–and would encourage clean energy innovation without discouraging overall energy production.
Here is what Rick Santorum says at his web site:
He wants to emulate other countries that are "creating their own energy independence through energy sources such as biomass, nuclear, and natural gas." As a result, Santorum says he wants to "expand domestic innovations and energy resources. This includes oil, natural gas, hydro, biomass, wind, solar, clean coal, and nuclear energy."
At his web site,Mitt Romney says that he wants to stop funding individual companies in the alternative energy field and instead "Concentrate alternative energy funding on basic research" and to "Utilize long-term, apolitical funding mechanisms like ARPA-E for basic research."
So there you have it. Not a single GOP candidate dismisses wind, solar or biofuels. Indeed, the opposite is true. Once again, Obama is lying.
You have to ask yourself, why does Obama feel the need to lie. The answer is simple. Obama cannot talk about his own record; it is terrible and would lose him votes. Obama cannot talk about the actual positions of the GOP candidates; they make too much sense. As a result, Obama has no choice but to lie and hope that the American people are just too stupid to notice. But here's the good news: the American people are not stupid. They know a lie when they hear one. That is why only 25% of the public support the Obama policy with regard to energy and gas prices according to the latest polls.
