The Spin Never Stops with the MSM

On his show, Bill O'Reilly always says that "the spin stops here", but in the main stream media, it seems like the spin never stops when it comes to the GOP. Right now, the main effort in the main stream media is to show what a weak candidate Mitt Romney would be in a general election. We hear over and over that Romney has not "sealed the deal" with conservatives and the Republican voters just do not like him enough. Supposedly, this means that in November, Romney would just not make it.

Who thinks this stuff up? I realize that the media needs talking points, but this one is pure nonsense. I endorsed Santorum for president, but I still can recognize the truth about Romney and the GOP. Let me put it this way: how many Republican primary voters do you think will vote for president Obama in November? If you said anything other than less than 1%, you must be on drugs. It is true that Romney could not win in Tennessee or Oklahoma and that he just beat out Gingrich for second place, but does anyone think that Obama will carry Oklahoma or Tennessee in November? Obama had trouble winning the primary on Tuesday in Oklahoma among Democrats; he lost about 25% of all the counties in the state to a protest candidate. Indeed, Obama would lose Oklahoma to any Republican and the same is true in Tennessee.

It also does not matter if Romney only won Ohio by a small margin. Again, the people who voted for Gingrich or Santorum or Ron Paul are not likely to select Obama in November. No, Obama's fate is tied to winning those in the middle, not Republican primary voters. And the folks in the middle really are not represented in the GOP primaries any more than they would be represented in the Democrat primaries. In most places the independents cannot vote in party primaries. Even in states where the independents can vote, the ones who take part are mostly those who lean in the direction of the party in whose primary they participate. The actual pure independent (about 8-10% of the population) do not vote until November (if then).

Can Romney win over the independents? We will see in November if he gets the GOP nomination. We can be certain, however, that carrying the independents will not be affected by whether or not conservatives in Oklahoma voted for Romney in the primary.
