Why Friends of Israel cannot trust Obama and the Left

In the last few days, there has been an enormous outpouring of affection and support for Israel from president Obama and his allies. In other words, it is an election year and time for Obama to make it seem like he is a friend and supporter of Israel. Think of it! Obama gave an address to AIPAC and said that the USA would always have Israel's back. Obama met with Israeli prime minister Netanyahu followed by a cordial press briefing; America's amabassador to the UN, Susan Rice, also spoke at AIPAC and even quoted a Hebrew song about how good it is for friends to sit together (as if she actually is a friend). The list goes on, but the point is that Obama and the Obamacrats are putting forth a full court press to make clear to Jewish voters, evangelical voters and other friends of Israel just how strong the bond between Obama and Israel really is. The only rational comment one can have is this: "What a crock!"

Let's start with the easy examples of the real truth.

1) Susan Rice has been a constant impediment to good relations between the USA and Israel; she has argued for her entire term at the UN against a close alliance between the two countries. For example, in 2010, Rice was the principal voice in the Obama administration pushing for a UN investigation of the violence aboard the Gaza flotilla. You may recall that at that time, Palestinian activists and various Islamicists sent a Turkish ship to try illegally to run the Israeli blockade of Gaza. Israel has the legal right to stop ships trying to enter Gaza to search them for weapons, but the blockade runners wanted to end that practice by forcing their way through. When Israeli navy forces boarded the ship, they were attacked by the "peace activists" with pipes, knives, chains and guns. The Israeli troops defended themselves and nine people died in the melee. The Arabs immediately labelled this a slaughter and a war crime even though the video of the confrontation showed clearly that it was the "peace activists" who attacked and the Israelis who were defending themselves. One can only imagine how an "investigation" run by the UN would have come out. Nothing that happens at the UN ever finds Israel to be in the right, a fact of which Rice is well aware. Nevertheless, this "friend" of Israel wanted to set up a biased panel to find the Israelis guilty no matter what the facts actually were.

2) Obama himself has been against allowing Jews to build homes for themselves in the old city of Jerusalem. That's right, allowing Jews to live in their holy city is a threat to peace that has to be stopped according to Obama. I wonder how he would react if blacks were denied the right to build homes in the District of Columbia in order to promote peace in the nation's capital. How about if Mormons were not allowed to move into Salt Lake City anymore? The truth is that Obama may use terms like "settlements", but anyone who understands the truth knows that Obama's views are racist nonsense. No American president should ever espouse the view that peace depends on keeping an area free from one or another ethnic, religious or racial group.

3) Obama is also the one who did nothing to help the democracy movement in Iran when it took to the streets and nearly toppled the mullahs. It would not have hurt Obama to have actually spoken in support of those brave protesters. But, Obama, that great friend of Israel who will stop Iranian misadventures, did nothing. We will never know if encouragement from the USA would have helped the protesters to triumph. We do know, however, that when faced with a chance to stop the mullahs and free Iran, Obama did nothing.

I know that I write often about this subject. It is because no one should ever forget the truth here. Obama's friendship towards Israel is not real. We have seen his true views come through in the past; he is only tempering them now since he is running for re-election. I shudder to think what Obama would do during a second term when he would never face the electorate again. Obama has got to go!!!!!
