It just keeps getting worse

It just keeps getting worse: the media does the bidding of the Obama campaign with even questioning why. Yesterday, there was an article with the “shocking” disclosure that Paul Ryan is a “millionaire”. In truth, the article was nothing more than a summary of Ryan’s disclosure statements for the last decade in which he, like all members of Congress, had to disclose his financial holdings.

Ryan is not a millionaire as that term is used today. It means someone who has income of more than a million dollars per year. You know, someone like president Obama whose income was just under two million dollars in 2011. Ryan’s income was about one-eighth as much as Obama’s, but we get the article about how Ryan is a millionaire and nothing is said about Obama’s wealth. After all, if Obama wants to portray the GOP ticket as out of touch rich guys, there have to be articles like this to spread the lie.

Let me be clear: Mitt Romney is certainly a millionaire and so is Barack Obama. Romney made his money through business. Obama makes his money trading on the celebrity of his office. His books sell because he is president.

I find it offensive to see articles like this one which carry water for the Obama campaign in this way. I live in a town where the median home price is well over one million dollars. Under the definition of the article, the majority of my neighbors are millionaires. If you go to farm country in Illinois and look at the family farms of that area, the majority are worth more than a million dollars. That makes all those farmers millionaires. If you look at small businesses across the country, many of which are struggling to survive, a great many would sell for more than a million dollars. That makes their owners millionaires. What this really should tell you is this: When Obama tells us that he wants to raise taxes on millionaires, he actually means that he want to raise taxes on much of the middle class.
