More on the Obama Speech

I have been glad to see the reaction to president Obama's convention speech; the consensus is that Obama delivered meaningless pap instead of speaking seriously about the problems faced by America and how he plans to deal with them. For me, this has been a reality check. As I watched the speech, I kept waiting for substance about our economic problems. Every American agrees that something has to be done. Every American agrees that the course of the last four years has not worked well. That means that Obama cannot offer more of the same; we already know that that course does not work. But Obama never got to such an offer. He never offered more of the same; indeed, he never offered any plan for moving forward. All we heard were a few goals, but there was never anything that might indicate a plan how to achieve those goals. The speech was the equivalent of stopping by the side of the road to ask for directions. (Those of you who remember life before the GPS know what I am talking about.) Anyway, America pulls over the car and asks Obama how to get to California. Obama's response is to tell us that his goal for us is to get us to Los Angeles. That's it, nothing more! There is no direction at all. There is no basis to even hope that Obama knows how to accomplish the goals he mentioned. He is all talk. As the saying goes, Obama can talk the talk, but he cannot walk the walk. It is a scary prospect to think that this man still has a chance to be re-elected. Obama has got to go!
