Does this sentence sound familiar to you? Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors goods.
Most of America would recognize this as part of the Ten Commandments. It comes right after the one that instructs men not to covet their neighbors wife. So, to say the least, it is not a minor rule that is easy to ignore; yet, today in America we have major groups who not only ignore this commandment but who actively push to violate it.
Think about it. If we, as a people, are going to covet our neighbor's goods, whose goods would we focus on? It is not a difficult question to answer. If one were to covet goods, it only makes sense that one would focus on the wealthy. After all, they are the ones who have the goods worth coveting. Not many people would sit around thinking about getting that 2001 Camry parked down the street when they could instead think about the 2013 BMW or Lexus parked nearby. And it is the rich who have the good stuff.
Right now, we have a government that seems based on coveting the goods of the rich. I realize that this sounds a bit too Biblical, but it remains correct. How many times in the last year have you heard president Obama talk about taking from the rich. The rich do not pay their fair share, we are told, even though they already pay most of the taxes. "Let's take more" becomes Obama's battle cry. He does not use those words, but his meaning is clear. The rich have more, so we are going to take it from them. If there were a black belt in coveting, the first one would be awarded to Obama and the Obamacrats.
It is not even enough for Obama to aim towards taking these goods from the wealthy. No, Obama wants to chastise them for their success as well. What nerve these folks have to be successful! How dare they prosper! They must be punished! From a Judeo-Christian standpoint, it is a particularly immoral philosophy.
Now, of course, I am not saying that all taxes are immoral. Nor am I saying that those who are wealthy ought not contribute to the wellbeing of society. Indeed, we all have moral imperative to help the less fortunate. But that is not the same thing as attacking the weathy in order to punish them. Obama's class warfare does not involve loving one's neighbor; quite the contrary is true. Obama sows the seeds of discord and hatred, but he does so in the name of supposed goals that he clearly does not care about. Just look at the events of the day. When it comes to the sequester, Obama never says that Republicans do not want further tax increases because the GOP thinks that they would be bad for the economy. No, according to Obama, the GOP is just trying to protect those evil rich folks from having to cough up more of their stuff; it is just sooooo unfair.
If you ever wonder why it is that the group among whom Obama does worst are those who are religious, stop wondering. This is the reason.
