It's Annoying

The Vice President of the United States is an idiot and no one seems to care.  How many times in the last five years have we seen or heard Joe Biden make a stupid statement?  There are too many to count.  Just today, he came out with another two at an appearance in New York.  First he told the crowd about the shooting in Arizona at which his friend congresswoman Giffords was shot and "mortally wounded".  That means Giffords is dead, which would surely be news both to her and her husband.  She was severely wounded but is currently going around the country campaigning for gun legislation.  She is hardly dead.  Within a minute, Biden struck again.  He said that he wanted "to ask those who oppose gun legislation one question:  think about Newtown."  This one is minor compared to the statement that Giffords is dead, but think about it.  When Biden says "Think about Newtown", that is hardly a question.

The truth is that Biden is a walking and breathing gaffe machine.  He says things that make no sense.  He lets slip items that are supposed to confidential.  (Surely, you recall that Biden forced Obama to come out for gay marriage by letting slip Obama's plan to do so.)  He demonstrates racial bias unintentionally or, perhaps, unknowingly.  (Remember Biden telling reporters that everyone who works at 7-11 is a South Asian?)

I am not going to repeat the litany of mistakes.  We all know them.  I just want to make one point about them.  The media pays no attention to them.  I mean Marco Rubio takes a drink of water on camera and the media goes nuts.  We hear that the sip will end his career in politics.  Biden says things that indicate early onset dementia and no one even blinks.  Ted Cruz asks Dianne Feinstein a question about the constitutionality of gun legislation and the media tells us that he disrespected her and browbeat her.  Biden makes insulting and derrogatory remarks and it just drifts off into nothingness.

There is a major difference betwen Joe Biden and senators Rubio and Cruz.  Biden is in line to become president of the United States should anything happen to president Obama.  His sanity and sagacity are important for the country.  Even in the past, Biden has screwed things up.  The one area where Obama gave Biden responsibility during the first term was to put him in charge of getting an agreement with the Iraqi government regarding the stationing of about 10,000 men in that country to insure that the gains our troop fought for would not be lost to new sectarian violence.  Biden blew it and there was no agreement.  Now, without any Americans in Iraq, the bombings are starting all over again.

Let's hope the day never comes when Biden is in charge of anything important ever again.
