I've written before that Yahoo News is extremely biased. Even so, I just saw an article printed by Yahoo that surprised even me for the extent of the bias. The subject is the relationship between Obama and the Republicans in Congress. The latest news is that Obama is going to hold a dinner meeting tonight with ten Republican senators and also come to the Capitol to meet with the entire Republican senate caucus next Tuesday. It is no big deal. In fact, the big news here is that this is the second time that Obama has ever met with a Republican caucus and his first dinner meeting with Republican senators since he first became president. Every president of the modern era has realized that he needed to keep communications open with senators and congressmen of both parties. Prior to Obama, that meant that the president played golf with members of congress, held luncheons or dinners at the White House for some of them and spoke repeatedly on the phone to them. Obama has done none of that. Instead, Obama has tried to bash the members of congress into doing what he wanted by calling them out on national TV. Obama did not discuss avoiding the sequester with the Republicans until the day it went into effect. Instead, Obama spent weeks and months screaming at Republicans in rally after rally even though he was making no attempt himself to change things. So the real news here is that Obama is finally getting around to doing what he ought to have done many months ago, although it seems like too little and too late.
So how does Yahoo News report this? That's right, it is a "charm offensive" by Obama in which he hopes to romance the "intransigent" Republicans into seeing things his way. Yahoo thinks this is a major new development rather than Obama finally deciding to try to do his job.
There is no point to going through the entire article to point out the nonsense it contains. It just seems to me that Yahoo News ought to be forced to have a label on all of its "news" stories that reads: *warning--the Surgeon General has determined that reading Yahoo News may be hazardous to your intelligence. Many readers have reported belief in propaganda after contact.
