Hillary, Time and the Weekly Standard

The future of Hillary Clinton is the subject of a big article in Time magazine this week.  Time questions if anyone can stop her from becoming president.  In response, the Weekly Standard ran an article that says Clinton is unlikely to become president because she probably won't even run, if she does she most likely won't win the nomination, and if nominated she will likely lose.  Well that's quite a difference of opinion.

The real truth is that it is way too early for people to speculate successfully about Hillary and her future.  Who knows where the country will be in 2015 and 2016?  Will the economy have finally perked up or will there still be tens of millions of unemployed and underemployed folks crushed by economic stagnation?  Will the United States be secure in the world or will there have been more serious terror attacks (brought on, no doubt, by some new outrage on youtube?)  Will Obamacare have crashed and burned or will tens of millions have suddenly gotten insurance coverage while the rest of us bask in the glow of reduced insurance premiums?  (Okay, that last question is silly; I know that Obamacare cannot work.)

Then we have the question of Hillary's health.  She has looked like she is not doing so well in her appearances of the last six months.  Is that pale chalky look some new makeup or is she suffering from some undisclosed malady.

Then there's good old Bill.  Will some forgotten sex tape be published on the internet?  Who knows?

These are all things that could change the outcome, but which are totally beyond Hillary's control.  Nevertheless, they are each things that could greatly affect her decision.  One thing is certain:  Hillary does not want to run for president only to lose for the second time.
