We are now in week two of the Democrats "Anything But Obamacare 2014 Tour". Last week the topic was unemployment benefits. This week they added in economic inequality. In a way, it's really amazing. President Obama and the Democrats want so much to change the subject away from Obamacare that they will talk about things that they normally might want to suppress. Think about it. Five years after the supposed end of the recession, an end which Obama has trumpeted for years, we are being told that unemployment is so dire that we still need emergency additional unemployment benefits. I mean the connection between Obama's stinky economic policies and high unemployment is not too hard to figure out, yet that Democrats are all breathing a sigh of relief that they can now argue about that subject instead of discussing the debacle that is Obamacare. Income inequality is another of those surprise subjects. Obama has seen the biggest increase in inequality during his time in office of all modern presidents. For the first time in modern history, we have a president who has overseen a five year decline in median household income even while the federal government pursues policies that make the rich richer. Here too, the connection between Obama's policies and the increase in inequality is not too hard to figure out, but the Obamacrats still want to discuss this instead of Obamacare.
If you doubt the despair of the Democrats when it comes to Obamacare and their obsession with changing the subject, just look at the reaction to former secretary of defense Gates' book. Gates accuses Obama of sending American troops to fight in a war using a strategy Obama thinks will fail. Gates accuses Obama of admitting to taking positions on Iraq and Afghanistan for purely political reasons rather than to achieve the goals of the nation. These are pretty heinous accusations, but the Democrats are talking about them non-stop. After all, each day America discusses whether or not Obama is a phony self-important politician who knowingly sends Americans to fight and die pursuant to losing strategies that help Obama politically but do not help the country, is a day when Obamacare is off the front page.
