In testimony before Congress today, an official from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services told the House committee that the administration does not know how many people have actually paid for policies purchased through the Obamacare exchanges. Then he admitted that the government is not even collecting this information.
Think about that: millions of people who buy insurance on the Obamacare exchange are supposed to get tax subsidies to help them pay the cost. Subsidies are only available, BY LAW, to those folks who have actually paid for the insurance. If the government is not even collecting information on who is and who is not paying for the insurance, there will be no way to verify claims for subsidies.
It is inconceivable that the government would actually choose not to collect this data. It is as if president Obama did away with tax returns and only asked that taxpayers send a post card to the IRS with the amount of refund that they want written on it.
