The Democrats' Take on Benghazi

For over a year, the Benghazi debate has been driven by the House committee investigating the terror attack on the American consulate in which our ambassador was killed.  On one side there was the House Republican majority and on the other side the White House and its allies.  For the most part, the Democrats in Congress had little to say other than to occasionally parrot the talking points put forward by the White House.  Now that has changed.  The Senate Intelligence Committee issued its report on the Benghazi attacks today.  This is the first report from a committee controlled by the Democrats but which is not under direct control of the Obama White House.  The results are staggeringly bad for both president Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.  Here is the conclusion reached by the committee:

1.  “The committee found the attacks were preventable, based on extensive intelligence reporting on the terrorist activity in Libya — to include prior threats and attacks against Western targets — and given the known security shortfalls at the U.S. Mission.”

2.  The committee criticized communication breakdowns between various security agencies. The senators reported that the United States Africa Command, the military headquarters responsible for Libya, did not even know about the C.I.A. annex, so there was no planning of any defense of that installation.

3.  The senators also found that the Pentagon was poorly prepared to deal with crisis that night even though it was the anniversary of 9-11 and there had been warnings of possible terror attacks.

In summary, the Democrats on the committee found that the White House under Obama and the State Department under Clinton had not bothered to be prepared for a terror attack even though there were repeated warnings that one was coming.

For once, the White House will not be able to just slough off this report as "politically motivated".  Even so, the mainstream media will likely not even bother to cover this story.

Who will abandon the OBAMA Ship? That is the question & what will the CLINTON'S political clout have to say?
