Anguish at Hampton

Today, President Obama bemoaned the modern society in which we live at the commencement held at Hampton University in Virginia. According to the President, devices like I-pads, x boxes, and the bombard the users with information that can easily be untrue. In fact, obama claimed, false rumors can gain traction very quickly and damage our democracy.

Now for the translation into English: Obama is unhappy that the mainstream media which favors him no longer has a monopoly on the dissemination of iniformation in the country. That means that when Obama tells one of his whoppers, there are news outlets that quickly expose what he is doing. For example, during the campaign, Obama clearly promised that if elected he would never, NEVER raise taxes of any sort for anyone making less than $250,000 per year. Now, oef course, Obama has already signed into law a series of taxes which violate that pledge. In his first try at spinning this problem, Obama claimed that his promise during the campaign had only applied to income taxes. Unfortunately for Obama, media like tallk radio, the internet blogosphere, you tube, and Fox News have played back the recordings in which Obama expressly said that his pledge applied to all taxes of any sort. So, even though the old media outlets have not bothered to point that Obama has broken his pledge, the word has gotten out. It makes Obama look bad to say the least.

If Obama wants to have the various media not do harm, he should try telling the truth. I do not know if he is capable of this, but he could certainly give it a try.
