Is this true?

In a piece in the Wall Street Journal, former Attorney General of the United States Michael Mukasey says the following about the initial reaction of Janet Napolitano to the Times Square bombing attempt, "Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano suggested the incident was entirely isolated and directed her agency's personnel to stand down." Since the source of this statement is a former Attorney General writing in a respected paper, I have to assume that it is correct, and, if so, it is chilling. Could the person specifically charged with defending the Homeland be so blinded by her preconceived notions regarding terrorism that she would stop her people from dealing with an actual attack? If this is so, Napolitano must go. Otherwise, the whole country is laid open to attack while she continues to be blind to reality.

It is now finally admitted by the Obamacrats that Faisal Shahzad, the fizzle bomber, was acting in concert with and financed by the Pakistan Taliban, an affiliate of Al Qaeda. These are people who we can only ignore at our own peril.

I have not been able to find another source that says that Napolitano told DHS to stand down. There are reports that the NYC Police told DHS to stand down, but it is hard to imagine that the local police would have any effect on DHS personnel without authorization from the top. That is not enough, however, in my opinion, to prove that Napolitano was grossly incompetant here.

It is time for Congress to investigate Napolitano's reaction to the bombing. If she really did order DHS to stand down, then she should either resign or be impeached.
