Yesterday, as President Obama's motorcade made its way into Buffalo New York for another Obama speech, they passed a new billboard erected for the occasion. It pictured four people and had the following words on it: "Pesident Obama, I need a freakin job!" Amazingly, that sign got coverage on the TV news (ok, on Fox). It also got written up by Yahoo News today. Of course, the Yahoo news piece did all it could to explain why Obama had no problem with jobs. Best of all was this howler from the Yahoo piece: "Jobs" is no longer the main issue people identify as the most important one in interviews -- it has fallen to number 2 behind "the economy". I have to hand it to the mainstream press: they never fail to find idiots to write about Obama. Is there anyone out there who does not recognize that the economy is another way of saying jobs? Oh sure, it is a bit more broad, but it is still the same thing.
I also liked the section where Yahoo news listed all of the things that Obama was going to do about creating jobs. They were all speeches. I know the White House thinks that words, especially a speech by Obama, is as good as taking action, but why does the press fall for this stuff. Even a Yahoo from Yahoo news should know better.
You really could not make this stuff up. No one would believe it.
