Democrats: Let's drive oil prices even higher

News is out today that the Democrats in Congress are trying to raise the special tax on oil produced from offshore wells. As the church Lady on SNL used to say, "Now isn't that special!" It is not enough that Obama has shut down off shore drilling. That move alone will reduce American oil production substantially and force us to import far greater amounts of oil, thereby enriching a host of unfriendly countries. That move will also kill the jobs of tens of thousands of workes in this country dependent on offshore drilling for their livelihood. No, now the geniuses in congress want to make sure that if the coastal waters are ever again opened up for drilling, it will be less profitable to drill there. That will keep production lower with resulting higher prices and fewer jobs. And lets not forget the ripple effect in the economy the higher oil prices and fewer drilling jobs will have. Can you say slow growth and high unemployment?
