President Obama is out in the country with another of his Pass The Bill rallies, today in North Carolina. Since the details of his plan have finally been given to Congress, there is now some reaction that can be reported. it looks like the bill is dead on arrival and that both Democrats and Republicans are rejecting it.
Politico reports today that the following Democrat senators have already criticized the Obama bill: Lieberman of CT; Landrieu of LA; Webb of VA; Carper of DE; Nelson of NE; and Hagan of NC. Others have also spoken out, but they may still support the bill. The truth is that even with just the six Democrats listed above, there is already a majority in the Senate against the bill and that is the chamber which the Democrats control.
It seems like it will be hard for Obama to blame the GOP for this mess if he cannot even get the full support of his own party.
