About a month ago, Michelle Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll and was soaring in all the surveys. The common "wisdom" of the pundits was that she was the main rival to Romney for the nomination of the GOP in 2012. Then two things happened: Rick Perry got into the race and more people heard Bachmann speak. In the latest CNN poll of Republican voters, Bachmann comes in with 4% of the vote, in 7th place behind Perry, Romney, Palin, Paul, Gingrich and Cain. She is still ahead of Santorum, Huntsman, Johnson and Roemer, though. CNN did not issue results without Palin in the race, and it may well be that a big chunk of her voters would support Bachmann. Even so, this is quite a fall for Bachmann.
