Obama's Budget is even Worse than it Seemed

It has taken a few days to get a preliminary view of the budget proposal put forth by president Obama the other day. The budget had seemed unrealistic when we first saw it, but certain realities have now come to the fore which make it even worse. The most important of these is that Obama has ignored the spending limits put in place during the fight over raising the debt ceiling. The cuts at that time were passed into law, but they were apread over ten years. Everyone knew that Congress could ignore them if the necessity arose, but we all expected these cuts to survive for a number of years at least. Now comes the first budget from Obama since that fight. Recall that during the fight over raising the debt ceiling, a total of 1.5 trillion dollars in future spending was cut. Obama's budget, however, has a total spending limit above the amount that was cut. Can you guess by how much Obama breaks the legal spending limit? If you said 1.5 trillion dollars, you would be correct. Obama's new budget puts back ALL the spending cuts that were put in place last summer. Simply put, Obama's budget is a dishonest and dishonorable document. Obama should be ashamed of himself, but he never will be.
