It was amazing yesterday to hear president Obama announce that the USA and Israel were working "in lockstep" to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Anyone who pays attention to the news knows that this statement is untrue. Just last week, the Secretary of Defense announced that Israel might attack Iran in the spring in order to stop the nuclear program. If working in "lockstep" together with Israel means that the USA is going to announce possible Israeli attacks in advance in order to prevent them from happening, then maybe Obama was correct. On the other hand, if America's undermining of the possible Israeli attack is direct and unwanted interference in Israel's plans (which it is), then one can hardly call it working in lockstep.
In the same interview which aired prior to the Super Bowl, Obama also said that the government does not "see any evidence" that Iran is seeking to carry out attacks in the United States. This is another of those blatantly untruthful statements by Obama statement. Just last week, the Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testified in Congress that Iran is "now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived U.S. actions that threaten the regime.” Which is it? Was the DNI telling a detailed lie in testimony to Congress, or was Obama trying to smoothe the waters by misleading the American people. If, God forbid, the Iranian nutjobs actually carry out a domestic attack in America as the pressure on that country mounts, will we see signs carried by the left that read "Obama lied, people died!" I doubt it, but those signs would be true.
Sadly, yesterday's lies by Obama are so clear and so easy to spot, that I wonder if Obama actually perceives them as lies. Many times in the past, Obama has acted as if once he says something, it must be true. Think of some of his past whoppers that just got repeated over and over. My favorite will always be "if you like your plan and your doctor, you can keep them." We all know now that that claim is simply untrue, but Obama said it something like 1000 times. So maybe Obama actually believes what he said yesterday. If so, we are in bigger trouble than most folks realize. It is a terrible thing to have a weak and distracted president. It is much worse to have one that is delusional.
