Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-MD)spoke today about the bill to freeze the salaries and benefits of federal workers (including Congressmen) which passed the House with more than a two-thirds majority. According to Cummings, "this bill appears to be a disingenuous and disrespectful attack against federal workers.” It is hysterical. Obama froze the pay of the very same federal workers for two years. The bill in question freezes the pay for a third year. A just released study by the non-partisan CBO says federal workers make 16% more than their counterparts in private industry even after the two year freeze. Forty percent of the Democrats in the House voted for the bill. Nevertheless, Cummings calls it an attack against federal workers.
Cummings must really need the money!
