Proof of the Worst

It is not often that there is documentary proof of clear misconduct by federal officials, but today certainly brings some.  As most things these days in Washington, the subject is the sequester.  An area official of the United States Department of Agriculture asked his bosses in Washington if he could arrange the cuts in his area so as to lessen the impact on fish inspections.  In other words, this manager wanted to focus the cuts on less important parts of his group's activities and reduce any cuts on inspections of fish (assumedly to keep supplies of fresh fish flowing into the market.)  The reply that he received from the USDA higher ups is astounding.  The leadership of his agency directed the regional office as follows:

“We have gone on record with a notification to Congress and whoever else that ‘APHIS would eliminate assistance to producers in 24 states in managing wildlife damage to the aquaculture industry, unless they provide funding  to cover the costs.’ So it is our opinion that however you manage that reduction, you need to make sure you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.”

So here we have it.  Washington is telling this manager to make sure that there will be serious bad impacts from the sequester.  Washington is telling this manager to do what will HURT the American people.  Washington is telling this manager not to be helpful but to be hurtful!!!!!

We went through weeks of hearing president Obama tell us about the impending disaster of a few measily budget reductions.  Now that they have happened and the sky has not fallen, Obama is having his forces do what they can to make things WORSE!!!!!  Shame on him.
