If there is even a gold medal awarded for stupid decisions, the first one will undoubtedly go to the TSA. In a truly amazing move, the TSA has now announced that it will allow knives to be brought onto airplanes starting next month. Are they kidding? With a knife, a terrorist could take control of a plane. Do they remember 9-11? Those terrorists did not have guns; they used sharp objects to take control (remember.... sharp objects...like knives??????)
There have not been knives allowed on planes for more than a decade. Air travel has continued, but air terrorism has not. The country spends billions of dollars each year to keep weapons off planes and to keep travellers safe. The TSA does not want to spend any less, the screening forces will still be there. The change, however, is that they will no longer keep the knives off the planes. It is idiotic!
And why make the change? Has there been a groundswell of support for bringing weapons back on planes? I don't think so. What is next? Will we soon see firearms (aside from assault weapons) back on planes? Maybe the TSA will also let explosives on board but ban detonators.
If I sound angry, it is because I am angry. What idiot actually made this decision. I want to know who to blame.
