The New national Security Adviser

There is some really bad news out of Washington today, and this is bad news even for a city that seems to be spewing bad news all the time. Obama's National Security Adviser General Jim Jones is leaving and he is being replaced by his deputy, Tom Donilon. Jones had a whole career of military experience with the Marine Corps. Donilon's experience is with liberal politics. His longest job was as a lobbyist for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from 1998 to 2005 when he worked tierlessly to make sure that there was no new or meaningful federal oversight for those corporations. You could say that he worked hard to bring us the financial meltdown of 2008 which resulted to a great extent from the policies followed by Fannie and Freddie. Donilon also worked in the Clinton White House as a fixer. Perhaps the most telling comment about Donilon comes from Defense Secretary Robert Gates who is quoted in Bob Woodward's new book "Obama's Wars" as saying that it would be a "disaster" if Donilon became the National Security Adviser.

Why does Obama always come up with moves like this? National Security is too important to be political. Will we now have policy that comes straight from the far left playbook? Will Obama further weaken our national defense?

I'm with Gates. Donilon is a disaster.
