Richard Blumenthal -- more lies

Yesterday, I quoted the New York Post which called Richard Blumenthal "a proven liar". Now there is more evidence of this. Less than a week ago, Blumenthal debated Linda McMahon in Hartford. During the debate, Blumenthal kept harping on how the WWE (McMahon's company) was under investigation by the state. When McMahon said that it was interesting that the WWE had not changed its method of doing business during the twenty years it has been in Connecticut but that only when she ran for office did such an investigation actually occur, Blumenthal was quick to respond. Blumenthal said that his office of Attorney General only handled civil matters and the investigation of the WWE was a criminal matter so he was not involved. On Thursday, there was another debate between the candidates. During that debate, Blumenthal made the same charge about the investigation. This time McMahon said that there was no criminal investigation of WWE as Blumenthal had claimed, and intimated that Blumenthal's allies were behind a civil investigation that was underway. Blumenthal immediately responded that he had never said that there was a criminal investigation of WWE.

It was only three days earlier that Blumenthal had indeed announced that he could not be behind the investigaiton since it was a criminal one not a civil one. I watch him say this on TV and so did thousands of other voters here in Connecticut. Then, three days later, when it was clear that his excuse would not work, Blumenthal simply lied about what he had said previously. McMahon pointed out the lie, but to understand the full impact of it, one had to see both debates (and I doubt there are too many voters who did that). Blumenthal, however, has been proven once again to be a liar. To make matters worse for Blumenthal, the nature of this lie is not about what he did during Vietnam. Now he is lying about whether or not he used his office as Attorney General to incite an investigation that would embarrass his opponent in the senate election. Blumenthal's conduct certainly would indicate that he did just that.

Blumenthal does not deserve to be in the senate. In truth, he is the one who deserves to be investigated for the misuse of the Attorney General's office.
