I just read a summary of the interview that Obama gave to Peter Baker of the NY Times. In just a few words, Obama let forth with a string of lies. Here's an example: "Mr. Obama reflects on his presidency, admitting that he let himself look too much like 'the same old tax-and-spend Democrat,' realized too late that 'there’s no such thing as shovel-ready projects' and perhaps should have 'let the Republicans insist on the tax cuts' in the stimulus."
In English, Obama is first saying that he is not a tax and spend liberal. Everyone with half a brain knows that Obama is, indeed, a tax and spend liberal. Now he is out there denying the truth and chalking it up to a misperception.
Obama also now claims that he realizes now that there is no such thing as a shovel ready job. Another lie. Within the last few weeks, Obama has been pushing for another spending bill filled with infrastructure jobs that were "shovel ready". The projects were for rail, highways and airport construction. Are we supposed to believe that Obama's epiphany happened in the last few hours? Or is he saying that last week when he was pushing for this new spending bill he already knew that the projects he wanted to fund were not going to move forward in a way to help the economy? Those are his only choices. The only issue is when has he been lying to the American people, because it hade to be one time or the other.
Finally, Obama actually says that maybe he should have let the GOP insist on tax cuts in the stimulus. As I recall it, the Republicans were not even shown an advanced copy of the stimulus before they were pressured to vote for it. Then the GOP was given a few hours to review the bill before the vote. for Obama to talk about giving in to GOP pressure for tax cuts is a lie. The Democrats had super majorities and they completely froze out the GOP. the stimulus is all Obama's. He has to wear that millstone around his neck.
Elsewhere in the interview, Obama says that he expects the Republicans to move towards him after the election. He says: "It may be that regardless of what happens after this election, they feel more responsible, either because they didn’t do as well as they anticipated, and so the strategy of just saying no to everything and sitting on the sidelines and throwing bombs didn’t work for them. Or they did reasonably well, in which case the American people are going to be looking to them to offer serious proposals and work with me in a serious way.”
So here is another lie. Republicans, according to Obama, just said no to everything and offered no ideas of their own. Sometimes I wonder if Obama actually believes this. Is he delusional or is he lying? the choice is an unhappy one, but sadly those are the only two alternatives. I can think of any number of Republican proposals which Obama ignored. tort reform, selling insurance across state lines, budget cuts, preventing tax increases during the recession are only a few that come to mind. this is a lot more than just saying no. it is important to remember, however, that saying no to Obama is the same as saying yes to freedom and America.
The man is president of the USA; he ought to start telling the truth. If that is too much to ask, maybe he can cut back on the quantum of lies. Eventually he could get down to cutting out all of the lies. Hopefully, getting rid of the lies would leave him speechless.
