Remember when Hilary Clinton told America that Bill had done nothing wrong and that all the uproar was due to a vast right wing conspiracy. Of course, the blue dress that Monica Lewinsky had showed conclusively that Clinton was lying and that there was no vast right wing conspiracy. Well, today that right wing conspiracy is making another appearance, this time in North Carolina. Rumors were circulating for months in North Carolina that some high officials in the North Carolina Democrat party were settling complaints by staffers of sexual harrassment. Money raised to promote political positions was used to pay for the results of another type of position. On Friday, email surfaced from within the North Carolina Democrats complaining bitterly about the sexual harrassment and about the potential damage that such conduct could do to the Democrats' chance in NC in the fall. Today, the executive director of the Democrats in NC resigned since it became clear that he was the one reference in the email. Jay Parmley claimed that he was completely innocent and that the allegations were the work of right wing enermies. Boy, that vast right wing conspiracy never gives up, does it. Of course, instead of quieting the matter, Parmley's resignation just amped up the calls for the state party chair to also resign.
What is it about Democrats in North Carolina. First we had John Edwards (whose trial on federal charges is underway at the moment.) Now we have these two. That right wing conspiracy in North Carolina must be the sneakiest and the best in the country.
