Something worth a Smile

There is always so much bad news, that when I come across something humorous, I think it is worth sharing. But first, here's a snap quiz:

What has president Obama done that has managed to united all Republicans and Democrats in the Congress?

This is not a trick question. Obama has taken an action which has united every single Democrat and Republican in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Here is the answer: Obama has proposed a budget for the federal government in each of the last two years. In 2011, the budget Obama proposed for that year was voted down in the Senate unanimously. In 2012, the budget that Obama proposed for this year was voted down unanimously in the House. That's right, for two years in a row, Obama was unable to get even a single Democrat to vote in favor of his budget proposal.

Now for the humor: speaking today at the White House, Obama denounced the budget actually passed by the House of Representatives as "radical" and a "prescription for decline." That's right, the budget which the House passed makes hard choices and cuts the deficit unlike the fantasy budget offered by Obama for which not even one congressman voted. In Obama's view, a budget with real leadership choices is radical; a budget that avoids solving any problem (like the one he proposed) is preferable. I find this extremely amusing.

In many ways, Obama is like some medicine man who when faced with a child with apendicitis dances around the patient and chants to the spirits to cure him. When an actual doctor comes in to operate to remove the apendix before it bursts, Obama would then label that a "radical" solution. Of course, the difference is that using the Obama method, the patient would die, while using the so-called "radical" method, the patient survives. Since the patient here is the United States of America, it is perhaps not as funny as I thought that Obama would put forth a budget plan that would lead to assured collapse of the country.
