Why Have a Department of Justice?

It has been weeks now since the New Black Panther Party offered a bounty on the head of George Zimmerman. Let's be clear. That bounty is an offer to pay someone for killing Zimmerman. I believe that in every jurisdiction in America, that bounty is a crime. No private party can offer to pay a reward for the killing of a person. It does not matter whether or not Zimmerman is guilty of murder in the Trayvon Martin case or if Zimmerman was acting in justifiable self defense. It does not matter if Zimmerman is racist or if he is not. No private group like the New Black Panther Party can offer to pay someone for killing Zimmerman. But they did!

So the question of the moment is this: where is the US Department of Justice? Why has there been no arrest made against those offering to pay for a killing? What happened to the rule of law?

No matter what happened in the Martin case, Zimmerman is entitled to fair consideration of the matter and then, if called for, a fair trial. That is our system of justice. He should not have to be in hiding. He should not fear for his life and the lives of his family. But where is the government when all this happens?

The truth is that the lack of action by DOJ is a disgrace. No one has even condemned the offering of the bounty on Zimmerman's head. Can it be that the DOJ is now so thoroughly politicized that justice is an afterthought? Is the main goal of the DOJ really just the re-election of Obama rather than the fair and reasonable administration of justice in America?

The conduct by DOJ is a travesty. There is just no other way to describe it.
