This morning, I pointed out the nonsense that passes for punditry in an article by Juan Williams. Maybe I owe Juan an apology. No, it is not that what he said was not stupid; it most certainly was. It's just that there is so much more floating out there in the opinion columns of the mainstream media, that I should not have singled out Juan.
Here is an example: Eleanor Clift writes today about the possibility that Michelle Obama will run for the senate seat in Illinois in 2016. As evidence for this, Clift points to the fact that the first lady has been in Chicago three times since the election. I guess this is one of those "Earth to Eleanor" moments. Eleanor, Michelle Obama is from Chicago! She lived and worked there for years before her husband was elected to federal office. Why in the world would anyone think it unusual if she visits that city?
In the annals of stupid comments, Clift has now moved into contention for induction into the Hall of Fame. Too bad, Juan Williams, you lost your place in line.
