It really did not take long for the politically correct crowd to start spouting the usual Multiculturalism garbage. The Marathon bombing perpetrators are toast: one dead and one in custody. This was a terror attack by Islamic extremists. It is beyond question. So where does the media go?
The Boston Globe published an article yesterday under the headline "Islam might have had secondary role in Boston attacks". According to the Globe, the Tsarnaev brothers may have just been alienated individuals and not at all motivated by their Islamic ties. Much has already been written about this, and I will not repeat it here. Suffice to say that this report in the Globe is on a par with a claim that the 9-11 attacks were actually a poorly executed plan for the urban renewal of downtown Manhattan.
On Bill Maher's HBO show, Brian Levy, the director of the Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism at California State University in San Bernardino started arguing that Jews and Christians do just as crazy things as Moslems and that Islam may have had nothing to do with what happened in Boston. Maher, who is normally one of the proponents of politically correct crap, broke in to say: "That's liberal bullshit right there." When Levy argued, Maher delivered the clincher: "I mean, there's only one faith, for example, that kills you or wants to kill you if you draw a bad cartoon of the prophet. There’s only one faith that kills you or wants to kill you if you renounce the faith."
Look, no one is saying that all Moslems are dangerous or that they all support terrorism. Everyone knows that is not the case. But it is ridiculous to argue against any link between Islam and the terror attacks. No matter how hard the liberal, politically correct media tries to push this line, we should not accept it. There is too much at stake and the truth is important.
