Remember the Economy?

Since the start of president Obama's second term, the main focus of the administration has been  1) gun control, 2) immigration; 3) speeches and 4) fundraising for the 2014 elections.  Missing from the mix is any move made by Obama to help improve the economy.  Let me be very clear:  Obama has made speeches in which he has talked about coming to some sort of grand bargain to raise taxes further.  He has also had two dinners, a lunch and one other meeting with Republicans.  Obama, however, has not proposed a single bit of legislation that could help the economy.  Nor has Obama even expressed a coherent program that would have a positive effect on the economy.  He has not even taken an executive action that would help speed economic growth.

The pundits all agree that a second term president has only a short time to get anything major done before the election cycle intrudes.  Obama's second term will soon be ten percent over.  His time for gaining a major accomplishment is probably something like 30% over.  But Obama has maintained his neutral stance on helping the economy.

This is a failure that is not lost on the American people.  After the election, Obama's approval rating shot up as millions of folks decided to give Obama a second chance to achieve positive results.  Well, the ratings have slumped back down.  Week after week of watching Obama ignore the important issues that concern all Americans has led to an ever increasing segment of society that sees Obama in a negative light.

A president must devote his time to working on the issues that matter to America.  For some reason, Obama has proven himself unable to do that.  We all suffer as a result.
