It may be worth considering the answers to a few questions.
1. What happens if the North Koreans launch a missile on Wednesday? Will it get shot down? Will it engender a couterattack or, if you prefer, an attack by the South Koreans on the NKs? How long will the USA and South Korea wait before responding to the launch? What if the trajectory of the missile is determined to be near but not on top of Guam or Hawaii?
2. What happens if there is another episode of chemical weapons attacks in Syria? Will there be any response from the world this time? Will there be any power that would actually go in and destroy the Syrian chemical weapons stockpile? What happens if some of the chemical weapons go over the border into Lebanon or Turkey? What happens if Assad decides to use chemical weapons on Israel?
3. What happens if the Iranians decide to send troops to help Assad maintain power in Syria? What if the Iranians demand that Iraq allows an overland massive transport of troops to Syria and the Iraqis agree? Would any country attack the Iranians as they arrive in Syria?
4. What happens if the results of the Venezuelan election put the opposition into power? What if the Chavez supporters stage a coup in order to maintain power for their candidate?
These are just a few of the questions that we all need to consider. In the scheme of things, they are a hell of a lot more important than what Beyonce is doing in Cuba or the other things that seem to transfix America.
