Last night I wrote about the "extension" of the signup period for getting a policy on the Obamacare exchanges. The March 31 date is being extended by president Obama even though he does not have the power to do so. It is being extended even though he has told us repeatedly that it would not be. It is being extended without offering any explanation about how such a move is possible without congressional approval. It is being extended without even telling us the length of the extension. It is being extended for anyone who says (whether or not true) that they tried previously to get insurance but failed. All this is bad enough.
Today, the Drudge Report has linked to a report from 15 days ago in which the government spokesman told the media that the March 31 date would not and COULD NOT be extended. The official spokesman told the media that by law, the date had to be set no later than June of 2012 and that it could not be changed thereafter. This was just two weeks ago.
It is overwhelming to watch our government trample the Constitution in an effort to gain a political advantage for the Democrats who are terrified of the effects that Obamacare is having on the electorate. These are people who obviously do not care what the law provides. They have power now and they will do anything, legal or not, to keep that power. Let's hope that when November comes, they are still willing to let the American people choose their leaders in an election. America and the American system of government is in grave danger from Obama and the Obamacrats.
