Will 65% beat 22%?

In a normal democracy, a measure favored by 65% of the people would triumph particularly if only 22% of the people were opposed to it.  In Obama's America, however, that seems not to be the case.  Here, ideology is now the guiding force that steers much of what our president does.  The issue I am discussing is approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline.  The latest ABC News-Washington Post Poll finds that by a margin of 65 to 22 Americans want the president finally to approve construction of that project.  Obama, however, has sat on the decision for nearly six years now.  First it was "studied" to death.  Then more studies were ordered.  Then there were unanticipated delays.  Then there was the need for further consideration.  In truth, however, all that has happened is that Obama has tried to delay his decision since he knew that approval would bring the wrath of the extreme environmentalists and disapproval would cause unions and many others to be angry.  Obama instead has chosen to vote present as he used to do in the Illinois legislature on difficult decisions.

The time has come for a final decision.  Maybe president Obama could take a moment away from his latest planned vacation to actually focus on the pipeline decision and the tens of thousands of people whose lives it will improve by providing work for them.  Obama has to decide if he is going to continue to pay homage to the phony global warming crowd or if he is going to help Americans who need work.
