The Budget Proposal From Obama

In one of the funniest items of the last month, president Obama released his new budget proposal and actually said that "the age of austerity is over."  The Age of Austerity?  Really?  How can he say that with a straight face?

Here are some facts:  During Obama's Age of Austerity, federal spending rose to an average level some 38% higher than during the supposedly free spending period that preceded it.  There is simply no way to call a huge spending increase by the federal government "austerity".  That reality, however, does not stop Obama.  Once again, the man thinks that if he says something, then it is so, no matter what the actual reality is.

We all know that Obama's budget proposal is dead on arrival.  That has been the case since the Republicans took the House in 2010 and ended the spending binge of Obama's first two years of "austerity".  The GOP, however, ended the huge increases, but it did not roll back the increases that had already been baked into the cake.

Budgets rarely are funny.  Obama deserves credit for giving us all a good laugh.
