UNESCO has gone off the deep end; it has made its way into total insanity. Earlier this week, UNESCO, which is an integral part of the United Nations, adopted a resolution regarding the status of Jerusalem and along with certain other shrines and monuments in the Jerusalem region. The key point of the resolution is that the UN recognized the area of the Al Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock mosque as sacred to Moslems. The resolution, however, failed to recognize the same area as the site of the ancient Jewish Temple, the most sacred spot for Judaism. The resolution also failed to mention places like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other Christian sites that are likewise sacred to Christians. According to the resolution, it is as if these other sites do not exist.
It is one thing for there to be political wrangling in these areas. It is something entirely different for UNESCO to try to change the very history of the region. Jerusalem is holy to three religions. Indeed, Jerusalem is much more important for Christians and Jews than it is for Moslems. It is a mistake for UNESCO to try to deny the truth.
