The Latest Impeachment Nonsense

The media keeps trying to push Nancy Pelosi's demand that the Senate have witnesses in the impeachment trial despite the fact that the House didn't have these fact witnesses.  In other words, the House voted for impeachment without there being a factual basis for it (or any claimed criminal act by Trump for that matter) so now Pelosi wants to try to force the Senate to do what the Democrats in the House refused to do.  Today's latest move is a report on yet another "bombshell" in the form of an email that some left wing organization says it saw (but cannot produce) in which one official (not Trump) says that Trump wants the hold on aid to Ukraine to continue.  (Is there ever anything that the media puts forth that isn't described as a "bombshell"?  I don't think so.  In any event, this email supposedly "requires" that the senate call as a witness the guy who wrote it to find out why he said that Trump wanted the aid hold to continue.

This is total nonsense, though.  The email was sent on August 30, 2019.  Remember, the phone call between Trump and Ukrainian president Zelensky happened on July 25, 2019 which is five weeks earlier.  Let's assume that the email actually exists and says what the left wing organization claims.  That would mean that five weeks after the fateful phone call, and more than a week after the hold on aid became public, President Trump told a staffer that he did not yet want the hold on aid to Ukraine lifted.  It's worth noting that one week later, the hold on the aid was lifted (and, of course, Ukraine never announced any investigation of Biden and his kleptocratic son Hunter.)  No one disputes that by this time Trump was fully aware of the hold in the aid.  No one disputes that one week later Trump directed that hold be lifted.  None of this, however, has any impact on the basic question of whether or not Trump pressured the Ukrainian president in that phone call 5 weeks earlier to investigate Biden.  Indeed, we know exactly what Trump said because we have the transcript.

I'm tired of watching the media announce another irrelevant non-bombshell that it labels as a "bombshell" and then hyperventilates about why the Senate has to have witnesses.

If the Democrats are even remotely serious about impeachment, then they have to deliver the articles of impeachment to the Senate.  Nancy Pelosi has now held those articles for over two weeks and counting.  What a joke.
