Back to the Games

Since the start of the corona virus mess, the Democrats have been playing politics to use the suffering of the American people to gain a political advantage.  They continued that today.  There was an vote in the Senate to add needed funds to the paycheck protection program.  That's the measure that allows small businesses to continue to pay employees for the next few months at the government's expense.  The demand to participate in the program has been so great that it is expected that the available funding will soon run out.  The vote today was to add another 250 billion dollars to the program so that no one will be left out.  That's right, this was money to go to small business employees who now may be simply furloughed without pay or benefits.  The Democrats don't even oppose adding these funds, but they want to pass some other of their pet programs at the same time.  Thus, they blocked this critical funding bill so that they could use the pain of those who may now be fired to try to force agreement on plans that haven't even been discussed with the Republicans or the White House.

When the big stimulus package was passed, the Democrats blocked it three times in the hopes of getting some of their pet projects into the legislation.  Parents panicking about how they were going to feed their children were left hanging while the Democrats insisted on measures like providing funding for the Kennedy Center in DC (which is, of course, closed) and mandating racial and gender preferences on corporate boards across America.  Ultimately, pressure from the American people forced the Dems to relent on most of this stuff, but they still managed to get some unnecessary items packed into the bill.  Today's move by the Dems is just more of the same.

And who can forget the Dems big initial response to the virus.  When President Trump took action to block entry into the US by people coming from China, the Dems called him racist and anti-immigrant.  Dems like NY governor Cuomo resisted attempts to order social distancing for about two weeks.  As a result, NY ended up as the city with the largest corona virus outbreak in the entire world.  When the CDC was calling on people to stay home, Nancy Pelosi was telling them to come to the big Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco.  And once the Task Force was busy rebuilding our testing system, getting PPE, and working out a financial rescue for the American people, the Dems spent most of their time worrying about whether it was proper to call the disease the Chinese virue or the Wuhan virus.

I cannot imagine what the results would have been if the Democrats were in control in DC.  We would have had a much bigger outbreak with much more death, but no one would have been upset by hearing the term Chinese virus.  In fact, by now the Dems would have passed legislation making using that phrase a hate crime.  The Dems would have hired their usual "experts" to figure out how to do testing, but like the Obamacare website, that would have crashed and burned.  Thousands more would be dead.  Millions more would be unemployed.  But hey, in a program likely designed by Elizabeth Warren, corporations would be required to have certain percentages of blacks, Asians, Hispanics, Women, Gays and Trans individuals on their boards of directors.  As the companies declared bankruptcy amidst all the carnage, the Dems could tell us how we will all now live in equality -- in poverty too -- but in equality.
