CYA from the media

In an article posted today on the Real Clear Politics site, Charles Babbington of the AP argues that national policy is being determined as a result of "hard right" challenges to Republican congressmen and senators. (Link to the article by clicking on the title of this post).

It is hard to imagine a sillier proposition than the one put forward by Babbington. According to Babbington, but for the challenge by J.D. Hayworth to Senator McCain, there would be a bipartisan immigration law. But for worries by Senator Grassley about a potential primary challenge, there would have been a bipartisan healthcare law. What utter nonsense! Babbington forgets that the Democrats have overwhelming majorities in both the House and the Senate and that they used those majorities to push through healthcare changes without even consulting with the GOP. Were the closed door meetings at which the Obamacrats crafted their healthcare bill the result of potential Republican primary challenges? The question answers itself. Is it not possible that Senator McCain acts out of conviction rather than out of fear of a challenger? McCain, unlike most of the Democrats, has always marched at his own pace. He does not follow along blindly when the party wants him to do so. Maybe, the murders and kidnappings across Arizona have gotten him to change his view. In 2007, McCain told the country that he "got it" and that people wanted the first act in immigration reform to be the control of the borders. He has not changed since then. Was he looking past his presidential race to a potential primary challenge in the senate primary? Of course not.

The real truth is that the Obamacrats are desperate to cover their own asses from the wrath of the voters. Obama, Pelosi, Reid and their party have been in totla control of this country for the last 16 months while the economy has languished, the borders have been porous, the international standing of the USA has fallen, the Iranians have moved forward towards nuclear status, the allies of the USA have been given the back of the hand, the enemies of the USA have been courted in a charm offensive without any positive results, etc. Voters know this. The media knows this too, so the media is busy dreaming up excuses for the failures of Obama and his crew. Either failure is due to racist opponents or Republican primary possibilities or some other fantasy. What utter crap.

November is coming and the Obamacrats will not like it one bit.
