Weapons of Mass Destruction

Faisal Shahzad was just charged with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, a federal crime. The New York fizzle bomber is not firmly ensconced in the US criminal justice system. Let's hope he gets all of his rights.

I do want to know one thing, however. Why was it when the US only found old chemical weapons in Iraq, that the left said that Bush lied about there being weapons of mass destruction there, but when the fizzle bomber used non-explosive fertilizer and gas tanks, he is charged with having a WMD. The old chem weapons found in Iraq could have killed many multiples of the number that the fizzle bomb could have hit. Don't get me wrong, I think that Shahzad deserves to get the full consequences for his actions. I just think that the hypocracy of calling one thing a WMD and something much worse as not being a WMD is overwhelming.
