Even Howard Fineman is throwing in the Towel

In a column this afternoon, Howard Fineman, the Democrat flack from Newsweek admits that the Democrats are likely to get clobbered in November. While that is a prospect that I find extremely gratifying, I dtill had to laugh at Fineman. Here is what Fineman wants the Democrats to do. They should run on their record of accomplishment. As Fineman puts it: "There are specifics in the Recovery Act worth defending; there are even features of the health-care law worth bragging about. There are many items in the financial-reform law, too, worth talking about."

That's all he has to say in a lengthy article about the good things the Democrats achieved. fineman doesn't even try to identify any of these supposed good things that were accomplished. That is a job for someone else. I guess Fineman wants the President out there campaigning about how he ended pre-existing conditions as a problem in health insurance. Of course, in order to achieve that end, the Democrats destroyed the US healthcare system that we have known. The Democrats should crow about all those shovel ready projects (about 75 billion dollars) that have gone ahead to help the economy. Of course, they spent close to a trillion dollars to get that 75 billion of stimulus.

The truth is that Fineman realizes that the jig is up. After years when the Democrats were able to doubletalk their way into seeming like they knew what they were doing, the public has learned to its dismay that these folks have no idea how to run a country. They simply follow their ideologies and their talking points, and to hell with the consequences. for a long time after 2008, the Democrats kept saying that elections have consequences. Little did they realize that the consequence of the 2008 election is that the Democrats will be out of power for decades to come.
