In this morning's new York Times, there is a front page article detailing how lobbyists seem to control the actions of John Boehner, the House Minority Leader who will become Speaker if the GOP takes control on Election Day. This expose was denounced even before it was published by Boehner's staff. They released e-mails that they had sent to the Times offering to explain why the articles contentions were wrong, but the Times did not deign to listen to them. In other words, the Times printed only one side of the story in another victory for the leftist journalistic standards used by the Times. "Why publish the facts when you can publish a story to help your party's cause" seems to be their motto.
Even so, the story is comical. According to the story, Boehner's opposed cap and trade because of the demands of a lobbyist. Let's stop for a minute right there. The head of the House GOP opposed cap and trade because of a lobbyist? Are they kidding? Opposition to cap and trade and its job killing provisions was a signature position of the House Republican leadership. It was their position from day one and it did not change. Now the Times wants us to believe that Boehner took that position because of a lobbyist. what about the hother 178 Republicans? Did that same lobbyist control them too? The Times also says that the opposition to Obamacare was the product of the lobbyists. Again, how can the times expect anyone to believe this?
The truth is that the Times has published an article that is a fantasy hatched by some lefty Democratic operative at the paper. That such a person works for the Times is not surprising. That the editors approved the article, however, means that the entire hierarchy of the New York Times is, at best, delusional and, at worst, dishonest.
