Woody Allen: moral critic

Film director/actor Woody Allen has come out in favor of building the ground zero mosque. According to the NY Daily News, last night Allen told a group at the primiere of his latest movie, "Of course I think they should build the mosque." He added that "the only people that have a right to weigh in on" the divisive issue "are the people that were personally involved in 9/11."

"The people who lost friends or relatives have every right to protest and say what they want to say," Allen tells us. "All of the other people weighing in" are doing so for "political" and for "exploitation reasons." he continued. "I feel those people should shut up and just let the people who were personally affected make their case."

Given the great moral influence that Allen has, his words should have a big effect, particularly on those, like him, who have furtive sex with their step child. Americans strongly admire a man who would leave his wife for his step daughter. Indeed, he almost rises to the level of that other great film maker/moralist Roman Polanski.

I think that the truth is that Allen is jealous. The people who oppose the mosque have a much bigger audience than his movies ever get.
